Why I founded Zelif
My name is Zerika Karim. I founded Zelif to give SMEs in French-speaking Switzerland what they rarely find: someone who understands their management challenges and can build the solution all the way through, with data that stays in Switzerland.
My background
- Seven years of experience in software development and data.
- Master's degree in Data Science from HES-SO: research in computer vision, with an internship and master's thesis at Nagra, where I developed deep learning models that automatically recognise events in videos and images.
- As an independent, I have delivered projects for companies in Switzerland, the United States and Dubai.
What convinced me to start
Working with SMEs, I kept seeing the same problems: scattered figures, manual reporting, double data entry, and an appetite for AI held back by data confidentiality. Large consultancies focus on large companies; freelancers rarely cover everything, from data to a tool in production. Zelif was created to fill that gap.
Outside work
Professional volleyball player since 2017 and former member of the Swiss national team. Top-level sport taught me rigour, how to handle pressure and how to work as a team.
